About this tour
Chopta and Tungnath are two of the most scenic and revered destinations in the Indian Himalayas, located in the state of Uttarakhand.
Chopta is a small, picturesque village often referred to as the “Mini Switzerland of India” because of its lush green meadows, dense forests, and stunning views of snow-capped peaks. Situated at an altitude of about 2,680 meters, it is a perfect getaway for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. The beauty of Chopta lies in its serene landscape, where you can find a peaceful blend of alpine meadows, dense oak and rhododendron forests, and panoramic views of the Himalayan range. Chopta serves as the base camp for treks to Tungnath and Chandrashila Peak, but even without trekking, it offers a calm and beautiful environment for nature walks and birdwatching.
Tungnath, located around 3.5 kilometers from Chopta, is famous for the Tungnath Temple, one of the highest Shiva temples in the world. Situated at an altitude of 3,680 meters, the temple is part of the Kedarnath pilgrimage circuit and holds great religious significance for Hindus. The temple itself is an ancient structure, offering a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Tungnath is surrounded by snow-clad peaks, meadows, and valleys, making it not only a sacred site but also an ideal spot for travelers looking to experience the natural beauty of the region.
Both Chopta and Tungnath are perfect for nature lovers, spiritual seekers, and adventure enthusiasts, offering stunning landscapes, peaceful surroundings, and a chance to connect with the beauty of the Himalayas. Whether it’s the tranquil meadows of Chopta or the sacred charm of Tungnath, these places hold a special place for those who visit.
